2020 Mentoring Program Overview and Details

Mentees - Accepting applications starting May 4, 2020

The DC SHRM mentor program offers a structured setting in which to develop beneficial relationships between individuals new to the field and seasoned professionals. Acting as advisors, teachers, and guides to real-world experiences, mentors have the opportunity to encourage and counsel mentees by sharing their own experiences and knowledge of the HR profession. 

The program is managed by our VP of Mentoring and Development and two co-chairs. The program is offered in a Group Mentoring format. The methodology of group mentoring is for individual development that utilizes multiple experts (mentors) and multiple learners (mentees) in a group setting. Although structured as a group, learning is individual, and each mentee works on his or her own unique learning needs and development goals.

What You Should Expect from the Program:

  • Greater knowledge of career success factors; navigating your course
  • A lasting career network
  • The opportunity to earn recertification credit

The mentoring program is open to DC SHRM member participation only.

Participants are expected to participate in ALL group sessions (one kick-off meeting and three scheduled sessions). The sessions have been scheduled as follows:

  • Kick-off Meeting - June 24, 2020 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • August 26 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • October 21 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • December 16 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

The sessions will be held online via Zoom.
