DC SHRM is excited to partner with the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA), for our Second Chances: Get DC Talent Back to Work educational panel presentation. As a reminder, Getting Talent Back to Work is a SHRM initiative to help connect employers with qualified candidates with a criminal record who are deserving of a second chance.

Click here to download an informational PDF from CSOSA.

It has been six years since the District of Columbia Council enacted the Fair Criminal Record Screening Amendment Act, commonly referred to as “Ban the Box.” We have re-entry organizations, like CSOSA, who work tirelessly to ensure formerly incarcerated individuals have an opportunity to become gainfully employed but there is still so much opportunity for us as employers in the District to ensure these individuals do not continue to “serve a sentence” post release.

Does your organization have a Second Chance initiative? If so, great! Come listen and share with our panel members and your colleagues what your second chance initiative looks like, what successes and challenges have you had; what talent acquisition strategies have you deployed to tap into this talent pool; and how has this initiative changed your organization and those who were able take advantage of it.

If your organization does not yet have a Second Chance Initiative this will be a wonderful time to learn from your colleagues what it takes and what it means to develop such an initiative.

Our panel members include leaders in our DC community and former candidates who will share their stories with us.
